What is the Gold Coast Step Classic?

The Gold Coast Step Classic is a unifying cultural event, centered on the legacy of historically Black Greek Letter Organizations (BGLOs), that seeks to provide Black students with sense of belonging and connection to UCSB. BGLOs have a deep rooted history in the United States and have supported the access, persistence and retention of Black students across the nation as its members strive to promote racial uplift through civic action, community service, and philanthropy. The Gold Coast Step Classic is a part of the UCSB Divine 9 Engagement Committee’s larger effort to increase the presence of BGLOs on campus, in order to improve the campus climate and collegiate experience of Black students. This step show will include a number of performances followed by a reception where students can network with current Greek students and alumni across the state of California!

Who is invited to the Gold Coast Step Classic?

All UCSB students, alumni, staff, faculty, friends, family, and community members including but not limited to Santa Barbara City College and prospective students. A special welcome is extended to all Divine 9 Organizations and fraternities and sororities community!


What is the event format?

6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Doors open – take your seat & meet your Greeks!
7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Show time!
9 p.m. – 10 p.m. Food & Festivities

 

Directions to UCSB

Traveling north on U.S. Highway 101:

From Highway 101 take the Airport/UCSB/Highway 217 exit. The Highway 217 expressway leads to the Henley Gate entrance.  

Traveling south on U.S. Highway 101:

From Highway 101 take the Storke Road exit. Turn right on Storke Road and proceed to El Colegio Road. Turn left on El Colegio Road which leads to the campus west entrance.

Parking

There will be complimentary parking on campus Saturday, April 28th. Parking attendants will be stationed at the Information Kiosk in University Plaza with campus maps (near the parking lot 12). Valid UCSB Parking Passes must be displayed on your vehicle at all times.

All campus parking dispensers will have discounted parking of  $4 make sure to select an ‘All Gaucho Reunion Weekend’ permit.

 

Where is the Gold Coast Step Classic happening?

The step show is taking place at the Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall located near the Davidson Library & MultiCultural Center (near parking lot 3).

About the Divine 9 ‘D9’ Engagement Committee
